There May Not Be a Problem At All
Keep in mind that your body temperature is approximately 98.6 degrees. Even though your heat pump may be creating warm air, it could still feel cold to you simply because it’s below your body temperature. This is especially true if you’re used to gas heating. A heat pump’s “lukewarm” air could take some getting used to.
Thermostat Settings May Be Off
Check the inside temperature displayed on your thermostat. Given that your home’s occupants likely have different levels of comfort, somebody in your home may turned down the temperature. If the inside temperature is rising and the heat pump shuts off once reaching your desired temperature, your heat pump is working correctly.
The Heat Pump May Be Defrosting
When outside temperatures dip below freezing, your heat pump may have to defrost itself. In this case, you’ll probably notice a few minutes of cold air coming out of your vents before you feel warm air. This is natural and nothing to be alarmed about on cold days. As long as your home reaches your thermostat’s set temperature, there is nothing wrong with your heat pump.
How Do I Know When My System Needs Repair?
